Tumbling Classes

Tumbling Class Descriptions:

Pre-school
Students will be introduced to tumbling through fun stations and obstacle courses designed to teach the correct body shapes and promote strength, balance and flexibility.  Students will be introduced to the following skills: Levers, forward rolls, table tops, mini cartwheels, barrel rolls, and various jumps.


PreK – Kindergarten
Similar to the Pre-school class in structure, this class will be a great fit for a tumbling student who has previously taken a pre-school tumbling class or for a Kindergartener that is new to tumbling.  Students will work the following skills: Levers, forward roll variations, introduction to backward rolls, table tops or spotted bridges, mini cartwheels or cartwheels, various jumps.


K-2 Level 1
Level 1 skills are the building blocks to more complex skills in later levels.  Through the use of stations, fun drills, and spotting, students will work on building strength and flexibility while learning correct form and technique.  Students will be working the following skills: Kick up handstands, cartwheels, forward and backward roll variations, bridges, bridge kickovers, jumps (straight, tuck).  Students must have mastery of these skills before going on to the next level.


K-2 Level 2
Through the use of stations, fun drills and spotting, students will be building upon Level 1 skills.  Students must have MASTERED (independently, consistently and with good form) all Level 1 skills and will be working the following skills: handstand forward rolls, front and back limbers, front and back walkovers, cartwheel variations (one armed, speed, dive, lift off), round offs, jumps (straight, tuck, straddle).  Students must have mastery of these skills before going on to the next level.


3rd-5th Grade Level 1

Through the use of stations, fun drills and spotting, students will be building upon Level 2 skills.  Students must have MASTERED (independently, consistently and with good form) all Level 2 skills and will be working the following skills: back handsprings, aerials, front hand springs, skills in combination (ex. Cartwheel-back walkover, round off-back handspring), jumps (straddle, pike, split).  Other skills will be introduced depending on students’ skill levels.


6th Grade and Up Level 1
Level 1 skills are the building blocks to more complex skills in later levels.  Through the use of stations, fun drills, and spotting, students will work on building strength and flexibility while learning correct form and technique.  Students will be working the following skills: Kick up handstands, cartwheels, forward and backward roll variations, bridges, bridge kickovers, jumps (straight, tuck).  Students must have mastery of these skills before going on to the next level.


6th Grade and Up Level 2

Through the use of stations, fun drills and spotting, students will be building upon Level 2 skills.  Students must have MASTERED (independently, consistently and with good form) all Level 2 skills and will be working the following skills: back handsprings, aerials, front hand springs, skills in combination (ex. Cartwheel-back walkover, round off-back handspring), jumps (straddle, pike, split).  Other skills will be introduced depending on students’ skill levels.
